We have been deploying telephone systems for the last 15 years. Over the years we have learnt a thing or two.
There is no one single blueprint of network design & implementation that matches every business.
Every single business is different, and operates with a different set of operational schematics. The design of your voice and data network should correlate to and match the operational aspects of your business.
This article will outline the universal range of steps involved in transitioning your telephone and internet to a NBN powered voice and data network solution.
With the rollout of the NBN network, most fixed line phone networks will be switched off and be made redundant.
In 2026, most of the following traditional phone & data network are redundant and not available anymore -
- Telstra PSTN landline telephone network
- Business & Home Telephone lines of all Teir-2 telephone service providers, where the service is provisioned over Telstra's PSTN copper network
- ADSL and ADSL2+ internet services through all internet service providers
- Ethernet over Copper services provided over the Telstra PSTN copper network
- Cable Internet and Cable phone services provided through the Optus network
If you are still using one of the above technologies, you can confirm if your telephone & internet service is scheduled for disconnection by contacting your current service provider.
You and your business will be notified in the form of a letter, at least six months prior to services being switched off. You will also receive multiple reminder letters from the NBN of the disconnections process.
